The Coaching Minute – Mark Mathia

Welcome to the coaching minute.

To be fair, it’s typically more than a minute, but I assure you well worth the spill over. This week, I wrestle with the concept of enjoying work rather that simply enduring it. I believe that this may be on of the most important talks I have ever offered.

In this Coaching session, I will discuss ideas about how to shift the heart attitude of your teams.

I am convinced that what we need is a renovation of the heart towards work. I define heart as the epicenter of the human condition. The place in you and me that houses our physicality and our spirituality. It houses our emotions and our intellect. Why wouldn’t we want this brought to bear in the workplace?

I recommend three key strategies to accomplish this.

  • Check your task list.

Are your tasks more mechanical or organic. Leadership is an organic process so its important that our daily tasks reflect the organic nature of our leadership.

  • Stop finding solutions and start create movements.

Creating movements happen with an investment in leadership enabling teams to champion BIG, GOOD IDEAS.

  • Challenge the assumptions you take for granted.

The best leaders forge new paths and to do this we must learn to drop old, stale paradigms that are wrong.

What ideas would you add to my list?

    So what you’re saying is:

Every employee can renovate their heart at work by using 3 key suggestions.

(Which is an enabling proposition…key work: Suggestions.)

Dude, you were scorring before you went to SCORRE. Great job!
